YouTube has officially launched its multilingual audio feature to all creators worldwide, giving them the ability to add dubbing tracks in multiple languages directly to their videos. The update, announced this week, builds on Google’s Gemini AI technology, which translates content while reproducing intonation, emotion, and delivery for a more natural listening experience.

The feature was first introduced in 2023 as a pilot project with select creators including MrBeast, Marc Robert, and chef Jamie Oliver. During testing, YouTube reported that more than 25% of watch time on videos with multilingual audio came from non-primary languages. Jamie Oliver’s channel even tripled its views after adopting the tool.
The development signals new opportunities for voice actors. While the AI tool provides automated dubbing, many creators are expected to seek out authentic human voice performances to strengthen their connection with audiences. This shift could create fresh demand for multilingual voiceover work across global markets.
YouTube is also expanding localisation beyond audio. Since June, the platform has tested multilingual thumbnails. This allows creators to customise preview images with text in different languages to match the viewer’s settings.
This update shows YouTube’s growing push to support global reach for creators while opening new avenues for the voiceover community.
