YouTube has drawn a hard line in the sand and AI-generated content just got caught on the wrong side. Starting July 15, 2025, YouTube has announced it would only monetise content created with real human voices and original material in a bold move aimed at preserving content authenticity.

The video sharing platform is cutting off earnings for videos that feature AI-generated narrations, recycled scripts, or compilation content.
This shift comes in the wake of growing concerns from advertisers and viewers alike over the alarming rate of AI generated content, with many brands questioning the effectiveness of ads placed on low-effort, non-human content. Meanwhile, audiences are demanding genuine storytelling and creative effort.
In response, YouTube is putting original voices and creators first. “If your content doesn’t reflect your voice, you’re out of the monetisation game,” YouTube said.
For many creators, this is a wake-up call and an opportunity to double down on authenticity and creative expression.
So, what does this mean for you?
If you’re a creator who uses AI to narrate your videos or rely heavily on copied content, it’s time to pivot. Human voices, original scripts, will be the new gold standard on YouTube.
YouTube is finally giving power back to the real creators and we are so loving the energy.
