The Association of Voice-Over Artistes (AVOA), Nigeria has issued a stern warning to agencies and clients offering and paying below standard rates to Voice Artistes in the industry.
This caution was contained in a recent statement signed by the Association’s President, Segun Arinze, and released on 28th, March 2025, via it’s Instagram handle @avoa_nigeria.
According to him, the abysmal practice undermines the association’s efforts in ensuring Voice Artistes are duly compensated and the industry is regulated.
Mr Arinze also emphasized that voice talents accepting meagre rates — as low as ₦10, 000 to ₦20, 000 as against the country’s official rates of ₦100, 000 and above — not only devalues their work but also jeopardizes the collective efforts of the Association to establish and maintain industry standards.
While acknowledging that there is room for negotiation between talent and client, Mr Arinze however urged Voice Artistes to be vigilant and to place value on their craft in order to avoid being devalued and exploited.
The AVOA President further assured voice talents that the association will continue to monitor the situation and take proactive measures in safeguarding their interests in the Nigerian Voice Over Industry.
